Has anyone else noticed an increased amount of black and white flashbacks over the past couple of weeks? Nice way to reduce the amount of dialogue and content that they have to produce. It seems like a good 20% of the show is now in flashback form.

Yes and they seem really pleased with their new way of doing it, with the person who is thinking back appearing in color as they bring in the black and white replay.
I was glad of the one with Lily and Devon talking about how Victor came to own part of Chancellor Winters, because I had forgotten that whole thing.
I guess it helps them during the writers strike??? Easier to give the writers a clip to work in, rather than have the writers who know nothing about the show, try to write dialog recapping something.

The B&W is easier to see compared to what they were doing a week or so ago, with slightly out-of-focus or over-brightened colour footage that was hard on the eyes and hard to tell from new footage on small screens, so the episodes were confusing so many of us clicked it off.
I'd rather see more old episodes from the first 40 years, showing whole storylines, not one random episode with no context.

Yes I noticed, too. Sometimes it's nice seeing flashbacks to refresh my memory.

In the past, the imaginary scenarios have been done with lighting changes, almost a glow. But the last ones done in the ranch living room were really confusing.

They used to have a lot of flashbacks during the Bill Bell days, as I recall. Like flashbacks to things that had just happened a few days ago. The whole pace was slower then. I liked it. You could really chew over and savor the beats. And build. Nowadays, stories begin and fizzle out within a week!

Yes, the last ones done in the ranch living room were the most confusing and just made me annoyed and uncaring about the whole SL (similar to Sally's daydreaming flashbacks at CL & Society all day during her pregnancy). It is also bizarre that NE employees & CEO keep having to traipse back and forth from their offices to the ranch for all these meetings.

Oh yeah, those who's the daddy imaginary scenes were really awful. They have to go back to the ranch for their meetings, because other companies have booked Crimson Lights and Society for their meetings.

I'm wondering if TPTB are letting actors ad lib a bit. 'Adam' & 'Tucker' sound more clever, amusing, and in touch with their characters than the usual writing. I like it!

OK, now that I've seen Thursday US episode, I have to add I've never seen that many flashbacks! The new black-and-white style fading in over the character's shoulder makes it even more obvious that they are killing time! There must've been literally 5 or 6 flashbacks, and some of them were really long.

While I appreciate the B & W flashbacks over that ghastly unnatural bright glow that they previously used, it seems like they're struggling to create content and they've decided that this is good filler for them. The storylines have gotten so crazy (and uninteresting) that it's hard to follow the script so the flashbacks are helpful in that regard but c'mon writers, you're overdoing it.

I agree with what Lucygirl just said. With the other way of doing flashbacks, I really got confused. My husband even thought those scenes were supposed to be new, and that they just ran the same things twice. Now, with the black and white, it's easy to see what's a flashback, but you also see clearly how much they rely on old stuff and don't bother to write new things.

I'm not sure if I've noticed Adam ad-libbing but I think I've seen Tucker do it. He interrupted someone the other day, and it seemed like such a natural interruption, that it wasn't scripted. I love Trevor St. John's acting with his spontaneous touches. Remember that time he thought Ashley was handing him her purse and he tried to take it from her but she just kept walking by with it? That can't possibly have been scripted because I don't think the writers write sight gags.

I think he's the most natural on the show at the moment and also my favorite.

Honestly I don't know how he does that when he has so much material day after day. Friday I could tell Mark Grossman was genuinely cracking up at him.
