I really think this show has screwed up yet again by sacrificing other characters at the altar of Babbling Brooke and her son in law Liam the Waffle King.
First off they've taken yet another shot at poor Thomas. I really like his character and liked his turning a new leaf, after his ill fated affair with Hope Doll. Let us not forget that he was the one to get Bill and Liam out of jail. His and Steffie's obsession with getting their parents together is just too over the top, the whole Chile Protective Services storyline is a huge mistake. I'd have much rather seen Thomas not go down that path and just let Brooke and Liam shoot themselves in their respective feet by imploding from their own obsessions and insecurities. Both of them would have driven the much more reasonable Hopeless mad.
I think a truly great love triangle on a soap involves all the characters being ones you can root for or take sides on. I think it's safe to say that most of us don't see the appeal of Liam. He is the Waffle King after all. I'd have much rather seen Thomas tone things down and we can find Hope being drawn to his creative vision. Then have Liam be destroyed by his own insecurities.
I just think we could have had a neat love triangle, where we could be rooting for Thomas, instead we will have Liam and Brooke running to the rescue to save poor Hopeless----again. I do think it will be a bit interesting though if before they get there Brooke "accidentally" seeks comfort in the arms of yet another husband/boyfriend of one of her daughters.
