For one, the dialogue has noticeably improved recently. I wonder if the end of the writers' strike is finally affecting things? And there hasn't been as much musical job chairs, although still some, but only a little.
Victoria's scenes with Claire and with Cole have been good soap material. And I've liked Nikki's scenes with Audra and with Lauren, as well. I am very interested in the Ashley story, don't know quite where it's going, but she had a terrific scene with Tucker at the end of Friday's US ep. Overall, much better than the abysmal low the show had cratered in the last month or two.

I agree with you.

I do have to amend my post slightly now to say that Monday's US show dipped again, at least to me, with a too-obvious Nick and Sharon setup and the (to me) snoozefest of Adam and Victor and Sally. I couldn't care less if Victor approves of Sally. Anyway, aside from that ... generally better

I'm still invested in the Claire S/L but for the life of me cannot understand why the writers are harping on Ashley and Tucker's differing opinions about what happened in Paris. They have spent days on this which seems wildly overdone. I could care less at this point. Tucker is now reduced to droning on and on about how impossible it is for Ashley to really love anyone because her family and Jabot come first. She seems to be getting more fragile by the day. I hope they are not plnaning for another breakdown but would not be surprised if they revist that S/L. They seem to be recycling them again (e.g., Danny, Phyllis, Christine).

I agree, the show is better these days. Someone who sends me soaps scoops told me that during the writers strike, they were not allowed to advance the storylines. I guess that's why it felt like we were on a merry-go-round.
I do think they are planning for Ashley to have another breakdown. They've mentioned her past mental health a couple of times lately, so I'm almost certain that's what they're setting up.

Lucygirl, I agree about Danny/Phyllis/Cricket -- it is the worst retread, especially because they didn't write it to make any sense. The way it's written, Danny is irresistibly attracted to Phyllis despite what they are calling their "good and bad" past. Excuse me but here's their past: she drugged him to make it LOOK like he had sex with her, and foisted Daniel's paternity on him. She covered it up for years. They did not have a passionate affair.
I can believe that now they have been friendly coparents for many years and he could develop a new attraction to her. But they would have to spend a little time writing it this way to be at all believable. Instead, the writing short-cuts into a ludicrous situation.
The same problem with Ashley. When she returned from Paris, she wanted some reconciliation with Tucker, and even apologized for her role in their conflict. Partly she wanted info out of him, but partly she was sincere in wanting a truce. But now, suddenly, she's so terrified she can't even be in the same neighborhood with him. It's too fast and abrupt.
Nonetheless, I actually like the Ashley Tucker story, because they are two of the very best actors on the show, and are fantastic scene partners, no matter what they're doing, IMO. So I'm going with it.

Miravep, you make some great points about Danny and Phyllis and why would he even be attracted to her, given her insane past. Plus, he seems to be having a very nice time with Christine... why would he risk blowing that? Crazy.
The only way that I think the big difference in Ashley right after coming back from Paris, wanting reconciliation, and now, being afraid of him, is that she is having a breakdown, and there's no logic or controlling her crazy thoughts. They are real to her.

Another example of the show done well recently is Audra. Her scene with Nate in the GCAC dining room was fantastic. Beautifully opening up her character.

Just when you thought it was getting better, they bring us a Phyllis/Danny/Pristine sandwich.
During the holidays, one of the classic episodes shown was Ashley and 'Robert the Blanket' (yellow blanket she carried around after a miscarriage decades ago), which I suspected was to portend another mental breakdown.
