I wanted to like the whole Nikki is kidnapped storyline, but it seemed incompetently written, and weirdly slow and awkward. I wondered if they let some newer, less experienced writers try their hand. Then I wondered if AI somehow wrote it, due to the writer's strike? It could have been better, but instead I was kind of groaning the whole time it was going on.

This storyline is beyond stupid and there are no words to describe the amateurish acting. AI would have written a much better story. This is the work of the Exec Producer/Head Writer Josh Griffith and is what happens when you fire all the writers. It's embarrassing for the actors to have to say the dialogue. Maybe CBS owed a favor to Coleen Zenk (Aunt Jordan) but it's obvious why she hasn't worked in awhile. Melody (Nikki) I guess wanted to try out method acting (no facial makeup) but the words she had to say and her delivery of them wasn't much of a help. Nick just stood there like a stick and Victoria had a blank look. A total waste of time for the viewer and didn't help the actors' resumes one but.

Of the lot, I think Claire had the most nuanced acting. I actually thought she was pretty decent at conveying her rapidly changing emotions and confusion. Nikki does like to go without makeup - I think she thinks it gives her gravitas as an actor. I actually burst out laughing at Nick's stabbing scene. Such little effort to produce such a gaping wound. LOL.

For the life of me I could not understand why Cole and Victoria didn't tell Claire that they would like to get a DNA test. They were so insistent and wouldn't back down, even though their lives were on the line. Idiots. Nikki does like to go without makeup - I think she thinks it gives her gravitas as an actor. Lawgirl, maybe you know--is there anyone above Josh Griffith? Specifically, does anyone have to look at the scripts and approve them? If the show seems inept, is there anyone to say, Maybe we should try to improve the quality of the writing?

Yeah, overall it sucked... but clearly it's not over yet... Jordan is in hiding. Victoria and Cole have to deal with the possibility that Claire actually is theirs. Nikki has an addiction to get over again. So as bad as the writing was in parts, it could lead us to some interesting stories.
Claire definitely had the most interesting role in this... she portrayed the confusion and realization of Aunt Jordan's lies very well.
Nick's just ridiculous though. I don't know why he comes out looking like a stupid Neanderthal every single time. I think I might have unintentionally insulted Neanderthals.

The only good thing about this stupid storyline was that Phyllis wasn't part of it, so we got a break from her screeching and arm flinging.

It was awful. Embarrassing. I liked it going in ... and couldn't believe the AI level the writing and staging immediately sank to. It was like a bot was given a Wiki entry on the Newmans and they stuck its two episodes into the show. Aspects had potential -- the return of Cole, the question of Claire's parentage, reminders of baby Eve -- but they needed to introduce them over a little time and have them make sense without such absurdity. Aunt Jordan raised a child for 25 years, took care of her, for all that time, and then whammo, it was time to set this ridiculous time bomb in play? The business about the poisoning with everyone gathered in the locked room was so poorly done, all the actors could do was a lot of heavy breathing.

It was all so lame. And the inept police couldn't have looked too hard to find Aunt Jordan. Another thing. If things didn't play out like they did and if all of them died from the poisoning, what was Aunt Jordan going to do with all of those bodies? So utterly STUPID!

I agree with everybody. I did a lot of sighing and eye rolling during this entire stupid and badly acted storyline.

I had hoped we'd seen the last of Nikki's drinking! Everyone always says she nails it, but it is painful to watch.

I'm also sick of Nikki's drinking relapses (although not of her own doing this time around). Her longing looks at the bottle are not interesting. I'm surprised her family isn't more concerned about a possible relapse since the stuff was mainstreamed into her for days. On a related Nikki note, I though she looked the best today that she has in a while. Her weight loss looks good, I loved her blouse (the slate blue color really suited her) and she looked very pretty and more natural with her new understated makeup.
Now, BACK to the corporate shuffle! My God, what about this could possibly have the writers think this is interesting? Literally the ONLY thing that has my attention at the moment is the inevitable reveal that Claire is Eve.

You won't like Tuesday's US show. You'd think by now Victor would know enough to keep booze out of sight of his alcoholic wife.

I am always in disbelief that they keep their alcohol on display like that. At least keep it in a liquor cabinet out of sight. Or not have it at all in the house of an alcoholic!

I was just going to write about this, wanda. They've always had it this way--a sumptuous display of alcohol on a big fancy tray right in the middle of the Newman living room--but for Pete's sake, who would do that in real life? If I had a family member who was battling an alcohol addiction, I don't think it would kill me to take away the bottles.
